How much water falls when it rains? Have you ever heard on the news that an inch of rain fell? It may not sound like much, but when it rains a lot, water can accumulate quickly! Down spouts are used to get the water from your rain gutters down to ground level. Many people use extensions on the down spouts to get the water further away from the foundation of the home; this is critical for some homes, as I saw recently. A customer had recently repaired their rain gutters, which stopped them from leaking down the stucco in a few places. However, what it also did was force all of the water two locations, where the down spouts were. This concentrated water was allowed to seep down the foundation, where it entered the home. In trying to stop one set of leaks, another leak was created. Water can cause a lot of problems, but each problem does have a solution!
